The Meandering Catalysts Society is a new meetup group in London geared towards bringing together travel bloggers, companies, PR and tourism boards alike in casual social occasions. Through a series of organised, themed monthly events, attendees are able to mingle is such an informal atmosphere that encourages - catalyses - discussions on current affairs in the travel industry and potentially the establishment of collaborations between bloggers and service providers -
What, too pompous? Fine, I'll tone down the seriousness then.
It's all about our growing London network of travel personnel expanding from the sporadic, spontaneous gatherings to regular, formated events - sponsored, may I add. Because, most of you will agree, it's much more comfortable selling your product - may it be your blog, destination, service - when chilling with someone you're well acquainted with and a pint glass to fall back on for liquid confidence.
The Meandering Catalysts Society is built upon two main objectives:
1) the gap between travel bloggers and PR people has to be bridged;
2) bringing in the other blogging industries - too long have us travel bloggers isolated ourselves from other forms of blogging - food, fashion, entrepreneurship etc - and never has the significance of niche-crossover collaborations resonated in the recent talks.
Every month there will be a theme to the meetup, whose subject will be that of the featured blogging industry of the event. Also, as a secondary theme, a destination will be spotlighted as a tie-in of the blog niche featured.
Oh yeah, let's not forget about the rules. Memorise them. Really, there are only really two of them so you may damn well recite them:
1) members shall not deliberately attempt to undermine fellow members whom are perceived as competition - that include slander, libel and sabotage;
2) attend meetups with a primary objective of having fun.
Don't forget to bring your media packs and business cards for potential pitches - because nothing makes us happier than seeing another blogger/PR - another one of us - successfully pull off a deal!
