Pictela (div of AOL) is looking for product managers. Pictela is a powerful ad platform that runs AOL's Project Devil. Product Manager - Someone early in their PM career or looking to make the transition, would be ideal. The job offers a lot of exposure to the online advertising industry and creative freedom.

Sr Product Manager, Business Intelligence - For this position, we're looking for someone who lives and breathes data. Who gets reporting.

Project Manager Vs Product Manager - It was a good discussion yesterday. Typically, we used to do both the functions and caused a heavy toll on the strategy and innovation. Hence, now we are experimenting a dedicated project manager to manage the project aspects of the product development.
Intern - Great to know the insights of this as i never managed any intern.

It was good. But I would like to see less details on the overall company structure, financing, monetization, project management, software development minutia and other details not actually related to product management itself. Not to say that's not interesting stuff but I'd like to hear more about the challenges of product management not project management, i'd like to hear less about hiring and divying up of tasks and all of that stuff that frankly, product managers aren't really involved in, or at least shouldn't be :-). I'd like to hear more about day-to-day responsibilities and details of new york product managers, what are the tools, what are the challenges and difficulties encountered vis-a-vis a very specific product. My 2 cents.

I started a new topic on the message board about this so that not everyone who attended last night needs to get spammed (unless they want to). Great to meet many of you & see you again.[masked]

Last night's TPG was outstanding - the featured entrepreneur/product was especially compelling.

@Jeff, I totally agree. The type of "project management" I think of as part of program management is more about stewarding features and functionality to completion. Not so much traditional timelines and gantt charts.

Thanks for a great first meetup. Quick comment to the Romantic Content Web Publisher-Are you using any WCM software like Alfresco or Drupal? I recall they were useful to manage content, media and publication, and I assume their are some plugins to help publish out to Social Media too. A well thought out review and publication Workflow may also go a long way to improving your time to publish. Good luck out there!

Great meetup. the 2nd best I go to here in NYC. Plenty of smart, proactive people.

It would be 5 stars but Google has reset the bar for me with their gourmet food offerings at meetups...

    Sorry Jeremy ;)

Regd. project manager vs product manager discussion, in my opinion project managers are tactical while product managers are strategic. Prod managers care about the user needs and what gets delivered, project managers worry about how it gets delivered.

It was my first time ever attending a meetup and really enjoyed the conversation. I was very impressed by how accomplished everyone is and knowledgeable about so many things!

If there is anyone who has transitioned between B2B and B2C product roles, I would love to have a chat and understand things such as - how easy is it to do, potentially difference in required skill set and so on.

Looking forward to the next meetup!

Had a great first experience too...looking forward to many more ...

Regarding Project Mgmt vs Product Mgmt discussion, as a former Project Manager who made a transition to Product Management and Strategy, I found the book - Inspired: How To Create Products Customers Love - pretty useful.
