The Benefit of Somatic Consciousness Meditation:

This class will help seekers of any level of experience to find more deeply embodied spiritual experience. As with all our work, it is non-sectarian in its view, lacking dogma and rigidity, honoring the true heart of all beings. It is a group of practices and teachings that help us with our human situation in a compassionate, precise way. This meditation helps us to feel wholly relaxed and attuned.

You will be given the tools to go along whatever path you choose in a more profound way, whether it is more work here or elsewhere.

We practice shamatha-vipashyana, which translates as calm abiding and clear seeing, and walking meditation in addition to guided experiences working with consciousness in the body, connecting with the earth and cultivating unconditional presence.

We have been doing this work in the Little Compton class for over three years now and the experience has been really profound. I am so excited to bring this kind of meditation into the community of Providence, because we need embodied spirituality that connects us to the Earth and the elements of the natural world so badly in urban areas.  I am hoping you will be part of the core group in Providence who grows with me and PI, so that we can really be of benefit to our immediate local community. You can bring this vision into reality! It's your Providence!

To become more familiar with the types of practices and ideas we will be experiencing, check out the book, Touching Enlightenment by Reginald A. Ray, PhD. He is a major influence on the somatic consciousness work I have been developing. His website is www.dharmaocean.org. There are free audio teachings there. You might even hear me asking questions in a couple of the recordings! Also, a great book to read is The Posture Of Meditation, by Will Johnson for excellent treatment of somatic meditation.
