Hi Theatre Meetup people -- another cabaret show that I'm performing in -- to which you are invited!Hi you guys - If you happen to be on Facebook, this event is also right here:
But if not, all info is below! This is the annual “Spirit in the House” show at Patrick’s Cabaret, which Dean Seal’s been organizing for several years, and has also expanded into a full theatre festival that’ll happen in late February. Though the unifying theme is faith and spirituality, it’s NOT “religious” by ANY means, and the performers are great — so please come! OH, and tickets are cheaper if you get them in advance instead of at the door, so if you’re interested, email me — I have a bunch, and can sell ‘em. Just $8.00! :-)
Patrick's Cabaret and Dean J. Seal present Spirit in the House at Patrick's Cabaret January 16th and 17th at 8:00pm 3010 Minnehaha Avenue
Minneapolis, MN 55406 Tickets $10.00 at the door
Or $8.00 in advance from any participating performer (like me, Amy Salloway!)
This installment of Spirit In The House features...
* Leslie Ball -- actor, singer, songwriter and founder of Balls Cabaret -- with "Music of the Spheres"
* Actor/writer/minister Dean J. Seal with "Backward Ecclesiastes"
* Theater for the Thirsty (creators of "the Cubicle" and "Amnesiac Jack") with 'Something Priceless for Cheap'
* Actor/filmmaker Steven Solberg with the film "Standing On The Bones of Our Ancestors"
* Dance by Ransomed Messengers * Amy Salloway (creator of "Circumference" and "So Kiss Me Already, Herschel Gertz!") with an excerpt from the work-in-progress, "My Sister Used To Be Anne Frank".
Spirit In The House is dedicated to exploring questions of inner life and outward action through theater, film, dance, drumming, music, spoken word, poetry, and storytelling.
Spirit In The House at Patrick's Cabaret is a preview event for this year's Spirit In The House FESTIVAL, which takes place February 27th through March 8th, 2009, at Hennepin Methodist Church, and will feature 15 films and 15 theatre and dance productions.
"It's not just entertainment-it's entertainment plus meaning," says Dean J. Seal who serves as Artistic Director and is a former Executive Director of the Minnesota Fringe Festival. "The Spirit in the House Festival offers an opportunity to gain insight from other traditions, laugh at jokes from other cultures, and hear voices from other perspectives and experiences," says Seal. "What the shows have in common is that they deal with matters of substance-life and death, joy and pain, comedy and tragedy."
Actor/writer, "Does This Monologue Make Me Look Fat?", "So Kiss Me Already, Herschel Gertz!" and "Circumference"
The Twin Cities offer some of the most varied and highest quality theater in the country. This meetup is for theater-goers who want to get together to attend and engage in discussion about performances. The group facilitates members inviting each other to get out and go to shows.
Come participate in this group! Contribute your ideas and energy to make the group a fun and stimulating way to learn about theater and meet fellow theater enthusiasts. Feel free to use the Suggested tab on the home page to propose an event that you would coordinate--just enter the specifics of when you are going, and most likely other people will join you. Include information about where, when, and how to find you.
Dance performances and multi-genre live performance works are also appropriate here.
If you are affiliated with a venue or performing company, please contact the organizer privately for posting guidelines; you will need to find a staff person or volunteer from your organization who will serve as host to welcome and facilitate group discussion among Meetup attendees.
