ThinkActChange: Social business & entrepreneurship's role in eradicating poverty

November marks a year since the very first Think Act Change, where a few folks got together for a couple of beers with an idea that they wanted to change the world, but no idea of where this journey would take them.

A year on, I figured it was about time I shared with you the personal journey that brought me to starting Think Act Change & more. So I invite you to join me in conversation with the journalist Mahesh Sharma.

This month will also be a celebration of all we have accomplished & it will be a night where we can talk and share ideas of where we want the next year to take us.

Come along, meet some awesome folk, eat cake (yes, there will be cake) and get inspired to Think, Act, Change.

We'll be meeting at 6pm for a wee drink with a kick off at 6.30pm. Stick around for drinks, chats and cake afterwards.

Avis Mulhall is an Irish girl who ditched her successful career in Ireland in 2008 to move to Africa where she lived in a rainforest in Tanzania, travelled through 15 countries, got attacked by a cheetah and ran a surf and yoga lodge in Mozambique before moving to Oz to set up her travel startup mmMule.

Passionate about social innovation, connecting people and travel, Avis is mmMule's caped crusader who fully intends on changing the world with AngelMule – a unique way for ordinary folk to give back on their travels by using their journey to deliver supplies to not-for-profit projects in developing countries.

Avis is also the founder of Think Act Change a monthly meetup where changemakers, thinkers, innovators, entrepreneurs or anyone who is interested in social innovation, social enterprise or simply doing good meet once a month.

She is also a Trustee of the Awesome Foundation and is founder of the soon-to-launch social enterprise Looloo Paper; which has taken on the ambitious goal of wiping out diarrhoeal disease in developing countries.

When she was small she genuinely believed she could fly. It ended badly.

The 60 second shout outs will be limited to 5 & will be on a first come first served basis so get there early if you want to be on the list!

TAC continues along just fine. I find it difficult to address all the issues I'd like. This particular meet was helpful 'cause Avis is a a key player. I include my former reference to Shakespeare 'cause Avis's seat of the pants approach captures much of what's needed to win the day.

In Bryson's book on Shakespeare he chided the bard for being obscure. Four hundred years later its still worth spelling out what Shakespeare meant. Here it is, I call it Enigma Lit. The 1st line is what he said; the rest is mine in lieu of what he held back for whatever reason.

O paradox!black is the badge of hell, the hue of dungeons and the school of night. And all while the Sun, the symbol of the light, doth herald a divine hue, of illumed essence, with sweet sweet sounds of eternal understanding. So! purveyors of this world - take care, lest ye become the melee that is the school of night.

(Nothing ventured nothing gained folks! So think big and wide!)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
