The Bear Valley Romp to Arch Rock, then Potluck On The Beach

The Plan:

This is a beautiful loop of about 10 miles covering the best of the varied landscape in Pt-Reyes. We'll take the Bear Valley trail from the Visitor Center out to a beautiful meadow where we'll have our vino/snack break, then continue (https://www.meetup.com/Bay-Area-Hiking-Biking-Adventure-and-Vino/events/114854572/) on to see the stunning views at Arch Rock. After taking in the scenery we'll go down to the beach and have lunch in an area protected by the cliffs. We'll return via Coast and Glen Trails which will take us past a lake (dang I can't find it's name!), where we'll likely take a vino break. This will be a full day of fun! If you were there last time you know just what I mean.

This hike is rated moderate soley for distance. The terrain is essentially level making for an easy hike.

What To Bring:

Vino and cups! - bring the good stuff! And don't forget glasses, paper, plastic, or otherwise.

Lunch: Plenty of food to share - Sharing the meal is what I love about our outings as it helps draw people together.

Snacks & Vino for our vino/snack break.

Hiking boots/shoes

Layered clothing, hat, sunscreen.

2 liters of cold water (1/2 fill and refrigerate, then top w/ ice in the a.m.)

Directions:

From Hwy 101, exit San Anselmo/Sir Francis Drake. Drive west
about 20 miles, to the junction with CA 1. Turn right and drive about 0.1 mile,
then turn left onto Bear Valley Road. Drive about 0.4 mile, then turn left at
the "seashore information" sign just past the red barn. Drive about 0.2 mile to
the parking lot at the end of the road. We'll meet at the trailhead at the west end of the parking lot.
