We meet to have fun using design principles from Tim Ferris bestseller "The Four Hour Work-week'. In between meetups, we do things that  scare ourselves, stretch our skills, and make our life amazing, this year.

Your founding (dis)organizer is Cecilia. I’ve been practicing a “Live anywhere’ and “Only do things that excite you’ life for quite a while, with colorful results.

Tim hadn’t written his book when I started out, but lucky for me, his effectiveness principles can be found in Permaculture Design, and thats what I do, Permaculture.  Mostly in Japan, in Japanese.

I'd love to get people in creative professions meeting up with each other, and seeing what happens - holistic health professionals, architects, filmmakers, carpenters, yoga teachers - people who dreams big and beautiful for themselves and their world, and who are going to need free time, free funds, and a team of supporters and collaborators to make good things happen

The highlights of our meetups activities will be videoed, written up, and edited down.  I need your good ideas and actions as reality tested 'Before and After' stories for a book I'm making on ‘Social Permaculture'.

If you have a skill that is spot-on useful to most members, we would love you to put on an event or workshop for this meetup, or even for the public, (paid or free) and will support you to make it great.

How can we eat well, travel light, positively managing negativity, be strong and flexible? How can we work more elegantly, and be excellent and effective in our micro-actions? How did Tim get so interesting, and how did the Japanese get so good at getting so much out of so little?

These and other puzzles will be explored. Maybe we will one day gather the resources for a Japanese language meetup. Nice.

"Permaculture is about persuading the world to give you what you want, so you don't have to take it"

Bill Mollison

"People don’t want to be millionaires. They want to experience what they believe only millions can buy"

Possible Future meetup events

Hands-on mini-Meetups

Members partner up to help each other master the steps towards making their life wild and free.

Possible topics and actions:

Create blogs. Choose a niche, become an expert, and share your surplus  knowledge to people who will use it.  Design to receive feedback on how its all going

Get started using Elance

Practice ordering beer in Japanese

Go to tango together, and pay attention. Do more of what works, less of what doesn’t. See what happens when you “lean into’ life, and what geniuses we are at word-free communication, when we put our minds to it.

Write profiles to become couchsurf hosts or Urban WWOOF hosts.  Attract excellent travelers that bless your house with their good skills and good spirits.

Half-day Workshop Meetups

Members who lead these can get a video that will either help them hone their skill, or wow their future online customers.

Possible topics and activities:

Use Tims 'Delete, then delegate' principle. Declutter our kitchens and re-arrange so we cant help but eat excellent meals, have a house of guests we love being with.

Test and design your web ‘Muse’ : a self-maintaining web business that pays you

Or design and plant a Muse’ garden - a self-maintaining garden that feeds you.

How to set up a conflict-resistant home.  The ability to share a house happily means freedom to travel for months at a time, with a place worth coming back to. This is a design challenge.

Low-tech tricks for drawing, that enchant others into building what you have imagined.

How to become an excellent urban WWOOF host, and attract excellent travelers who will bless your home with their skills,

Create a LETS System for the talented people in your neighborhood, so you can get life’s luxuries, and some new local mates, with non-money currencies.

Guest Speaker Meetups

Ask people we admire to share with us how they did it.

One-minute skill presentations for the rest of us cool cats.

Find a skill you have, most people don’t. In small groups, tell it in a way that makes learning it irresistible. Get videoed. Watch the videos and see what worked, what didn’t. If it turns out brilliant, put it up on your blog.

How we will BE.

While we are together, and in between, we practice the Epicuran, Stoic Tim skills. To me, the important ones are:

Give up being negative, blaming or complaining. Or quickly pick ourselves up when we slip into it, wipe off the mud, and move on gracefully.

Give up using words that don't have real, measurable meanings. Reality is interesting.

Design feedback into everything we do, so we can improve.
