I'm giving a speech tonight...wish me luck! #7 in the Competent Communication Manual. Hoping to earn my CC by June.

I am so sad to be missing the Icebreaker speech. I love to learn about the other members in our club and I feel like the whole story starts with the Icebreaker so when he does speech number two, it will feel like getting to the movies 15 minutes late! But while you all are enjoying listening to some quality speaking, I will be enjoying listening to some quality grade-school band music! It is my niece's very first band concert. She is 10 years old and just started playing in the band...she could have picked any instrument she wanted (I play the flute and the sax) and what did she pick? She picked the Baritone. It's in the brass family just a bit smaller than the Tuba. She is in love with that instrument. And she is so excited that our entire family will be at her band concert. She comes to some of my important Toastmasters meetings to support me and she knows that I'm missing our meeting this week so that I can go to her band concert to support her. Enjoy the meeting!

This is our last General Meeting of the year. There are two Speakers signed up including a new member giving his Icebreaker speech. These are always interesting because you never know what skills the person already has. In this case I think he has minimal skills and will be petrified, clutching the lectern with a white-knuckled death-grip. But we'll see, he's been working with his mentor for a couple weeks now, maybe it'll be a fairly polished speech.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
