One of the most important decisions you can make before starting to develop a mobile app is whether to write two (or more) platform apps - at least Android in Java and iOS in Objective C - or to use one of several "cross platform" approaches, some based on HTML5 and some not. The Cross Platform providers claim to offer panaceas of various sorts, but none of them so far has proven to be the definitive "one size fits all and satisfies all users and developers". In this chat Ian will discuss several of the solutions that have popped up and what's good and what's sub-optimal about each. Don't expect to be told which one to use, but only how to start to decide on one that may be right for your project, in your organization, at this point in time. Because there is no single nor simple answer.
