Blue Nights by Joan Didion -- heartbreakingly beautiful and stark. The writing is almost hypnotic, and you won't be able to put it down. Right now I'm reading MWF Seeks BFF by Rachael Bertsche -- a memoir about a twenty-something woman who goes on a yearlong hunt for a new best friend. Super-funny and smart, and you'll just love the narrator.
I have a few, which I'm sure isn't atypical for a booklover! I love D.H. Lawrence -- from my university days, of course -- he just had a way of illustrating relationships and love that really resonated with me. More recent (from this century!) is Emily Giffin, who, like Lawrence, depicts relationships in such an honest way. I impatiently wait for every book she writes! I'm also a huge fan of Jhumpa Lahiri.
Gosh, that's hard -- and, unsurprisingly, I again have more than one! Right at the top of my list: I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou; Women in Love by D.H. Lawrence; How to Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee; anything by Emily Giffin; Unaccustomed Earth by Jhumpa Lahiri.

I'm a quintessential book nerd--I work in the industry and am surrounded by books... but ironically, I don't belong to a club! I'm looking for a group of gals that I can read and discuss books with, in a non-industry way, and maybe make some friends!
