Let's talk about Smalltalk and then eat

Pair Programming Day!

A few of us have ideas for little projects to do in Smalltalk. (Personally, I'd like to try making Clojure-style immutable data structures in Smalltalk.) Let's pair up and work on things.

And if we have any newcomers-to-Smalltalk, this would be a good opportunity for a more-experienced Smalltalker to pair up with them and show them the basics of the language and environment.

Hoping to see some new faces!

Sorry, I had to bail at the last minute, too. Hope it went well.

The meeting didn't happen (at least by 7:30 when I left) as we couldn't get into the room.

Awww crap! Sorry. For future reference, you could have moved into any open labs on that floor. There are two of us who can let everyone into that meeting room, and I guess we were both depending on the other one being there. Sorry for dropping the ball.

Waiting outside the room (4 of us) but no one is here?

Sorry, my wife saddled me with an urgent matter I can't postpone. Next time.

I hope I can make it to the next meetup. I have been interested in Smalltalk from afar since discovering Ruby in 2000 or so.

I like Ruby - it's still my language of choice for Unixy text-file-oriented kinds of tasks.

I wonder how many others here are new to Smalltalk. At the meetup, might be fun to split up into small groups and do some pair programming, give the newcomers a chance to get their hands on a Smalltalk environment.
