Performant CSS Animations - Glimpse - 1 jQueryTO 2014 ticket to win

Details
Hello dear #towebperf friends,
Thanks to all the guys who came out to our last meetup ... but where were all the women :) ?
We have several exciting items on next month's agenda, including 1 jQueryTO 2014 ticket to give away (see below for details).
Let's change this for our next meetup by starting off with our first speaker for the night, Pearl Chen.
Abstract:
Did you know that you can speed up your web animations by using CSS instead of JavaScript? I'll step through a few common UI components that receive a performance boost from CSS, some additional tips for optimizing, and also what to avoid.

She was the lead frontend developer for the beta.telus.com (http://beta.telus.com/) redesign project and is a developer advocate at TELUS. Pearl is currently working with the Google Chrome Developer Relations team as a contract technical writer.
Second speaker up for the night will be Anthony van der Hoorn.
Abstract:
With the state of diagnostics on the web being what it is, we currently have to do a job that is much harder than it should be. Performance and understanding is a critical part of a successful application and too often the tools we are provided with only show a small part of the picture, leaving us to guess what else might be happening behind the scenes.
Glimpse is an open source project that aims to change the way we think about diagnostics and the frameworks we interact with.
After releasing Glimpse at Mix 11, Glimpse has become a tool that is used daily by tens of thousands of developers around the world. Since going live it has proven successful on the ASP.NET (http://asp.net/) stack, and prototype implementations have been built for PHP and Python. Here we will take a look at how to use Glimpse to reveal a complete picture of what is happening within your ASP.NET (http://asp.net/) MVC and WebForms sites, discover what tools are included out of the box, and see how you can easily extend it to suit your needs.
