Come celebrate the coming together of the New Alhambra Dance Company at our Summer Zambra, we will unveil our 2 newest choreographies in full form

What is a Zambra?

In Maghrebi Arabic spoken in Morocco the term itself means 'Moorish party' or 'Moorish celebration.’ (Wikipedia) It has also been defined as being a gathering of musical merriment. (narada.com)
...
This is not to be confused with the Zambra Mora which is a flamenco dance that originated with the Romani people (Gitanos) of Granada which is believed to have evolved from earlier Moorish dances and has some similarities to bellydancing. (Wikipedia) Alhambra Dance is involved with both worlds of dance. This is why Caliana has chosen to name the Summer Dance parties “Zambras”. Our first Zambra is sure to be a new, refreshing and fun experience for all involved.
