Humber River Ride

Let's have a ride up the Humber Valley Trail out past the Humber Arboretum to the end of the trail.

The ride will be on Saturday the 22nd, starting at 10:30 AM at Coronation Park at the base of Strachan, near the Prince's Gate. Parking is available at Fort York.

From there we'll ride west along the Lakeshore to the Humber Bridge, and then north on the Humber Trail.

We'll take the trail north past Lawrence and the 401, and then take the trail west to the Humber Arboretum (http://www.humberarboretum.on.ca/about). We'll have some lunch by the river (please bring your own, there's not really anywhere to buy some up there), and then ride back. A map of the route is at the link at the end of this message.

The ride will almost entirely be on bike trails, we'll have to ride on a few short sections of road, most notably at Lawrence where the trail gets cut off by a golf course.

The ride will be suitable for all types of bikes, I'm looking at a pace in the 15 - 20 km/hr range, depending on what most people are comfortable with.

The entire ride will be about 55 - 60 km. There will be ample places for people to turn around and head back, or take a TCC bus to the nearest subway station.

My cell number (for calls the day of) is[masked], if you are running late or anything, please send me a text.

Hope to see you there!

Thanks Donald for organizing the ride. You are welcome, Maria. I was glad that I was able to help some people find our way back to the trail. I still had fun, in spite of the weather. Long live road warriors!

Very fun and exciting ride. Last half was in torrential rain but we were too busy dodging the endless frogs and toads crossing the bike path in front of us.

Thanks for organizing Don. The trail is beautiful, and the rain certainly made it more interesting.

The weather sucked but the route was beautiful. Thanks Donald. Great group of people ... Thank you Arthur Brigitte and Louise for the company and the navigation skills on the soggy route back to civilization. :)

Thanks to everyone who came out to the ride, sorry that we got quite so thoroughly rained on. From now on I'll be a weather pessimist instead of an optimist when there is a chance of a thundershower (of course as I type this the sun is shining again).

Though the weather outside is frightful & inside @ my keyboard it's delightful, I gotta cancel cuz my Shimano Tourney, SIS Index, 21-speed (on a Fuji Crosstown about 10 years old) rear gear carriage/assembly went into my spokes this morning & got bent. I'd greatly appreciate advice on where I could get a 2nd-hand entire assembly or parts - I'm researching/diagnosing the actual parts involved now. THANK U!

I'm out. The weather is too iffy for this ride. See you some other time.

theres a huge parking lot west of coronation park, flat rate $20. and ~$15 for Ricoh Coliseum.

      June 19, 2013

    • Mike

There is some cheaper parking in Liberty Village: http://en.parkopedia.... Just ride down to Coronation Park which shouldn't take more than 5 mins.

Hey guys, am new to this group. Is the ride mostly on paved roads or otherwise? Would also help to know if there's an avg speed this group tries to target :)

    June 7, 2013

    • Donald S.

Like it says in the ride description, I'd like to keep a pace in the 15 - 20 km/hr range. The ride will be on paved streets and bike trails.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
