Details

The waterfront trail going out east is amazing. I am hosting a ride for individuals that want to go a bit faster than the leisurely rides but do not go as fast as groups like Charles and Andy.

  1. Ride duration
  • Ride Duration will be somewhere around 4 hours.

  • I, however, will be riding back and in this case it will be an all day event for those who want to join me. More details below.

  1. Locations
  • Starting: Woodbine Beach, Next to the Woodbine Bathing Stations. I will be wearing a bright blue & white shirt riding a Scott.
  • Mid-point - Frenchman's Bay Marina (for Lunch)
  • End-point - Oshawa GO

OPTIONAL: I am riding back to Toronto and individuals are welcome to join me. This will be discussed at the end of the ride (including the route back). If you are wanting to ride back it is about 110km. There are also a myriad of GO Stations along the way should you only want to ride back part of the way.

  1. Route conditions:
  • Path type: Paved/ Dedicated;
  • About half the trip will be on Side Streets/Rd and the other half on paths.
  • Route in first half is hilly, but then it levels out once we get on the waterfront trail.
  • Distance (total): Approximately 55 KM;
  1. Ride requirements:
  • Average speed: We will target 25-28 KM per hour; PLEASE make sure you can maintain this speed.
  • Break(s): We will take a 20-30 min break once we reach the mid-point location before riding on; Grab a bite to eat.
  • We will also have a break midway through the ride to the midpoint should anyone need refills on water.
  • Bike type: a hybrid or road bike is better suited for the target speed;
  1. Additional notes:
  • This will still be a NO-DROP ride. We will regroup/take it slow at lights to make sure everyone gets across. However, if you are struggling to maintain with the group once we get to the mid point that might be a time to re-assess taking the go train back.

  • This ride is weather permitting. If conditions are uncertain the deciding time is 9PM on the day before the event;

  • Please dress appropriately for the weather and bring water (important to hydrate) and if needed snacks;

  • Please be on time and respect your RSVP; We intend to leave on time;

  • Guests allowed as long as they can keep up - By taking part in this event you attest: a) you are in good health, b) you participate at your own risks, and c) you release the organizer(s) from any responsibility;

Last note - Please show up on time, if you do not know where the meet location is come a bit earlier to try and find it. You can also contact me at 647 924 1570.
