Big Data - Unconference

We are going to try something a little different. Let's get together for an unconference, a participant-driven conversations about Hadoop, Big Data, Data Science, whatever you like.

We have prepared some seed conversations to start with but invite anyone to come and discuss their current work, expertise, or confounding challenges. You can form your own conversations (like Hadoop 101, HBase HA, Finding a Data Engineer, Visualizing Data, Finding a job with Big Data, The Best Hadoop SQL, etc) and we will see where this goes.

Edwin Chiu of Loyalty One will be hosting and co-organizing.

Consider this a trial run for something that might be bigger in the new year.

• Introductory thoughts

• Format

• Everyone writes down topics of interests

• Topics are pooled and we divide up the room into various areas of interest

• Optionally: Use fishbowl (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fishbowl_(conversation))to facilitate conversations

• Self-organize

• Optional: Regroup occasionally to discuss any new topics and give the opportunity to reorganize
