New Features in Hadoop 2.0 - HA, FNN, HBase Coprocessors and more...

Note the new date (July 17) as many people will be away on Holidays...

Hadoop is maturing as a technology and the latest version, 2.0, is starting to show the benefits of it's amazing increase in adoption for Data Processing and Data Analysis in the Business and Academic worlds. If you want to make some decisions about how to move forward with Hadoop's latest release, this would be a good presentation for you.

I will be highlighting and demoing new features found in Hadoop 2.0. I will be using CDH4 as a reference distribution but this presentation is vendor-neutral and will apply equally to all distros on Hadoop 2.0.

I will cover:

- HDFS Federated NameNode

- HDFS HA NameNode

- MR2/YARN

- HBase Coprocessors (0.92)

- HBase Security (0.92)

I can bring some common use cases to the table but I would like to hear what drives you to Hadoop. Bring your Hadoop to the table...

Thanks to Scalar for hosting this meeting at their office in the beautiful SAS Building downtown!

Good - educational - but as often the case - a side interest in sales permeates

I'm afraid I cannot send the actual presentation out. As I used Cloudera content I cannot distribute. However, I will amass a hot list of links of articles and blogs that give the same information.

For those on their way, this could be a packed meetup. If you miss it then don't worry, I will be arranging separate meetups for the experienced Hadoop users and the those who need the Hadoop 101 sessions. These will be happening on a regular basis going forward.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
