Belly Dancing Performance

We get to photograph belly dancers in performance.
This is mostly a student recital, but there are a lot of advanced-professional performers as well.

Over 200 Bellydancers perform including:
Arabesque Students
Yasmina Ramzy
Arabesque Dance Co.
Arabesque Allspice
Arabesque Earthshakers
Suleiman Warwar

Bellydance Dumbek Brigade
and live drummers!

We are expected to provide a copy of our photos to the Arabesque belly dancing troup by flickr, tumblr or by disc.  If I can get an idea of how many people want to go by Fri, I'll give them a call and they can put us on the guest list.

She says no flash. Tripods are allowed but we will have to stand at the sides of the hall so as not to block other viewers. Anyone referring to my name, "Graham Walker" will get the special rate of $5 per person for entry. The show starts at 8pm but I told her that we will show up at 7pm. We should also be mindful of the other viewers of the show, please, so don't block anyone's view or move about unnecessarily, etc. Otherwise, please have fun at the show.

The dirty and nailed background wall gave me a hard time.

    Letter from Mel:

    Hi Graham,

I have set up a flickr account for Arabesque Dance and have uploaded a few images that were e-mailed to me earlier today by Eric Sun here:

I have created a facebook album here:

I don’t really know how flickr works! If you and your photo club friends could send me links to your photos, I will always give photo credit and I will add them to the flickr account and facebook!

Excerpt from a letter sent to me by Mel of Arabesque Belly Dancing:

Just wanted to say thank you again to you and the members of your photo club for coming down to our event on Saturday! It was nice meeting you all.

I need to set up a flickr page – I will get back to you on that momentarily!

It was my pleasure to meet you guys last night. I used 2 DSLRS+ 2 prime lenses and a M43 camera with kid lens. The cameras made me very busy:D

It's in the Estonian Consulate. I think the[masked] will be unusable. I'm going to bring my[masked] f3.5. I'm going to crank my ISO to 1600 and I'm going to use Servo mode.

Or maybe by "guest list" you mean free entry and the regular price is $15-$20?

I would like more information as well. I'm assuming no flash, but can we use a monopod? What is the lighting like? I agree with John, if they want copies of the pictures we should get in for free.

They want copies of the photographs, but would make us pay for tickets? I...nope.

No flash, no tripods, I presume? How far back might we be, I am not familiar with the venue. Thanks!

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
