Join us in an exploration of embodied meditation practices that are accessible to anyone regardless of their background, age, tradition or experience.
Using practices which Dr. Reggie Ray has drawn from Tibetan yoga, we will work with posture, breath and somatic awareness in order to discover our deepest selves. First we learn how to relax our bodies, then we relax our minds. In the spaciousness uncovered we can begin to live with love in an undefended way. The thinking mind can't deal with anything real. We need to receive life with our body, which has great wisdom and knowledge.
These simple practices are wonderful for those new to meditation, as the somatic exercises allow the discursive mind to quiet easily. Each practice session will be led by a student of Dr. Ray's and are appropriate for anyone able to lay on the floor with knees up and then to sit up on a cushion or chair.
Thursday, November 19 at 7:30PM there will be a FREE lecture and book signing by Dr. Reggie Ray at the Native American Student and Community Center, which is located at the south end of the PSU campus. This event will be the start of a weekend of teachings and practice with Dr. Ray, who teaches within the dharma and meditation lineages of the great Tibetan siddha, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche.
