Tower Hamlets Badminton Association (THBA) was created in 2010 to encouraging more players to attend Badminton activities in the East End. In partnership with Langdon Park School Sports Partnership and Badminton England a steering group was created to help develop talented young players and expand all local clubs in Tower Hamlets. From primary school coaching to setting up of District junior squads that regularly attend Junior tournament. Tower Hamlets Badminton has grown tremendously in the last few years.

Only to see that now Ladies only and more adult (open) club sessions including No-Strings Badminton in the GLL leisure centres, are available throughout the borough.

One of which being, The Village Badminton Club, which was set up in Sept 2010 and is a fast paced fix for those that would like a game straight after work on a Tuesday night. It's a social environment that caters for all levels of of Badminton. So if you are an experienced player looking for stronger competition or a complete beginner to the sport and just looking to keep fit, then you're in the right place.

 Bethnal Green Badminton Club was set up in Feb 2011 and is due to start on 5th March 2011.


Session currently running at the moment in Tower Hamlets that might interest you:

 

  • Tuesdays 6 - 8pm : The Village Badminton Club @ Bishop Challoner Secondary School (Commercial Road) : £5 (Open Session)

  • Saturday 11am -12pm : Bethnal Green Badminton Club @ Bethnal Green Technology College (Gosset Street) : £2 (Ladies only session)
    - Great opportunity for those ladies who are beginners to get some coaching without any pressure

  • Saturday 12 - 2pm : Bethnal Green Badminton Club @ Bethnal Green Technology College (Gosset Street) : £6  (Open Session starting the 5th March 2011)  

Feather shuttles are used for game play and challenge matches, plastic shuttles are also available if you prefer.
