Many of you with Italian roots may already know how to play at least one of Italy's classic card games... or maybe not. Either way, this group will afford you the opportunity to learn and play them on a regular basis.

Not Italian? That doesn't matter. No matter what your ethnic background may be, you will probably find Italian card games to be both easy to learn, and a whole lot of fun to play!

Italian card games, in general, are simplistic in their structure, not being loaded down with a lot of rules and conventions. This makes them easy to learn, yet, as millions of card players in Italy can tell you, the developement of strategic skill can be a lifelong journey. As in all card games, a good memory and deductive reasoning are useful, and both can be developed by regular card-play.

Traditionally, Italian card games are fast and often noisy (though we try to keep the volume down when playing in public). Most are played with a 40-card, Latin-suited deck, of which the group has a plentiful supply.

You may find that learning to play Italian card games will strike a spark of curiosity regarding other European card game traditions. If so, I highly recommend that you check out my other group, The Cleveland Card Game Players (CCGP) at http://www.cleveland-card-game-players.com/. For over four years, the CCGP has been meeting on a very regular basis to learn and play many different European card games, from countries such as Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, Great Britain, and Ireland. It is, without a doubt, one of the most unique groups you will find on Meetup, or anywhere else!

To help cover the cost of this site, as well as the cards and other materials that are used to play our games, an Admission Fee of only $1.00 is charged at most of our events.

All groups should have some rules of conduct, and by joining, you will need to agree to those rules. Please read them here before you join.

Please note that this group is built upon the same website as one of my old groups, which has since been "absorbed" into the CCGP group. That is why you may see some confusing "Recent Meetups" from 2008 & 2009. Simply ignore them.
