Adventure and Travel - Trails Club Bicycle Events

Details

About every two years a volunteer steps forward and organizes a multi day bike ride for our club. In 2011 Allen Burrell organized a 180 mile bike trip to the panhandle of Idaho, the Coeur d’Alene Trails. This is a rails to trails path that follows the history of the area through the Silver Valley, The Bitterroot Mountains, the Hiawatha and the old Milwaukee line.

Then in 2013, after hearing good things about a Natchez Trace bike ride organized for the TC by Bev & Gary Mohnkern in the mid 90’s, Gerda Eck stepped in to repeat this journey. THE TRACE is a National Park byway from Nashville Tennessee to Natchez Mississippi, recounting history back to the Indian tribes. This path was on a French map in 1720, was designated a National Scenic Route by Roosevelt in the 30’s and is now 444 miles long.

This slide presentation will give you an insight of how the bike group of our club spends their vacations, it also includes a 10 minute short film of a "Coast to Coast 3000 mile adventure cycling journey” by Allen, Chaz and Gerda.
