The Day AFTER Turkey Day :-) ***UPDATED***

Thanksgiving was great, even if you did eat too much. Come tell each other about it. Look at live birds. Breathe fresh air. Find cool stuff in the sand. Hang out with us!

Penrose Point State Park is completely rehauling their sewer system, so there are no bathrooms available.  We will meet instead at:

Here's a map of what's there:

Here's how to get there:
Park address:
[masked]th St. NW
Gig Harbor, WA 98335

Coming from either the east or the west, take the Wollochet Street exit off Highway 16. Look for the Kopachuck State Park sign. Take that exit, and follow signs five miles to the park.

Here's where we meet to carpool:

512 P&R

Here's what you should bring:
~$10 for your driver to help cover gas and bridge toll
~sack lunch
~rain gear and/or umbrella
~stories about what your crazy Uncle Mort said/did THIS year at the Thanksgiving table

Had a great time in the rain. Made 2 new friends. Kopachuck was beautiful in the light rain and mist.

It was raining. And, between raindrops, the water kept falling from the sky. Despite this and fortunately, no wind. High tide at Kopachuck so couldn't walk on the beach. Hugh knew the area somewhat, so guided us on a hike up and down the hill, always correctly staying on designated paths. We avoided the ones with the big streams going down the center.
Thanks to Al and Hugh for not laughing at my day glow orange hiking parka, covering from heads to toes and resembling a circus tent. It was a good first event with this group.
By the way, the group was three people who each drove to Kopachuck.

Unfortunately I don't have contact info for the other folks going... although it seems there are people heading straight to Kopachuck.

I am going to head to Kopachuck in a bit as I am not sure if the park and ride is going to happen. See you all there.

Notice on the Penrose Point SP website:

"Park closure: Penrose Point State Park is closed Sept. 10 to Nov. 30, 2012 for an improvement project upgrading the entire park sewer system. The park may open for day use on weekends as work allows. The trailer dump station also is closed during the project. Moorage is available, however, the pumpout and restroom facilities are unavailable. For more information about the closure, call the park office at (253) 884-2514."

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
