Translation: the process of rendering written words from one language into another.

Interpretation: the process of rendering spoken words from one language into another.

This is a group for people who would like to become professional translators, or who are already professionals looking to sharpen their skills as they mentor up-and-coming translators. Meetings will be weekly at the Citicorp Atrium and last two hours. THERE WILL BE NO MEETINGS OVER SKYPE. The format will be warm-up conversation, followed by a short video clip or reading, discussion for vocab and grammar training, individual translation exercise, and end with a comparison/correction of the translation.

PLEASE NOTE: YOU MUST HAVE AN ADVANCED READING, WRITING, AND SPEAKING LEVEL TO JOIN THIS GROUP! Minimum C1-level, preferably C2 or better.

Initial meetings will be in either French and English or Spanish and English, although other language pairs may be added in the future.  

I will also try to have monthly social events to give everyone a time to meet, and learn about the industry regardless of your language pairs or abilities. If you are a professional translator/interpreter interested in volunteering to speak at a future event or lead a workshop, let me know!
