In this salon, we'll address questions such as:
-What comes to mind for you when you think of "safety" and "security"?
-How can a community create safety (or a safe environment)?
-How can we achieve safety without sacrificing essential liberties?
This should be a very interesting discussion. We'll talk about security from the National, to the Local, to Personal level. We'll discuss how current events and legislation may impact security/safety, and we'll explore ideas together on how to address these challenges so that we can improve our safety and security without sacrificing our civil liberties!
The discussion will likely touch on such wide-ranging topics as the "Patriot" Act, indefinite detention, free speech, empathy and trust-building, local food security, self-defense, foreign policy, and more.
Transpartisan Alliance seeks to bring people together from all parts of the political spectrum and all walks of life to discuss important core issues in society, build greater mutual respect and understanding, and to seek common ground and common action to improve our community and our country.
Please join this important discussion, and bring your ideas!
We'll gather at 6:00pm for some food and mingling, begin by 6:15, and wrap up about 8:45pm. If you want to bring a food item to share, that would be much appreciated by all!
