NINTH MEETUP OF 2013

Details
Meetups will be the first Thursday of the month except November--on the 21st. The change was necessitated by the class schedule for SAS's corporate clients.
Scott McQuiggan, senior development manager for education apps at SAS, will discuss the impact of mobile development on education.
From supplemental tools for classroom instruction to comprehensive, interactive lessons, mobile apps are transforming education – allowing for learning to occur anytime, anywhere. Mobile learning not only motivates and meets the needs of 21st century students, but also aligns with the skills and competencies demanded by today’s workplace. SAS is working with our consortium of teachers, students and domain experts to create innovative, practical mobile apps that promote the mobile-enhanced, ubiquitous classroom – at no cost and ad-free! Let’s discuss the mobile education market, what we’ve learned about developing apps for learning as part of SAS® Curriculum Pathways®, and how mobile learning has evolved in the 3 years since iPads first met the classroom.
Mike Thomas will present follow-up information on the ChromeCast and MiraCast devices. He will discuss their strengths and limitations.
Non-SAS employees:Please RSVP on the Meetup site by 9am on the day of the Meetup. Guests are welcome. If you can't make it, un-RSVP so somebody else can use your slot. Check in at the front gate when you arrive and follow the map directions to building S.
SAS employees: You do not need to RSVP - just show up. Let Ross Hannah and I know if you can help with hosting or cleaning up.
Smoking is not allowed in the building, but we do have free WiFi available under the SSID "guest". Feel free to bring your own snacks and drinks or use the first floor break room (near the bathrooms on the left as you come in - meeting rooms are to the right).
Presenters and sponsors wanted! If you can present something during a future meetup please contact Bill Walser, Bill Lahti or Mike Thomas--and, of course Ed, Ross, and Luke.
