Now in its sixth year, Triangle Opera Appreciation is a small group of down-to-earth, gay-friendly opera lovers who enjoy experiencing opera. We warmly welcome newbies as well as long-time opera lovers.

We watch recorded performances in members' homes, live broadcasts in stadium movie theaters, and socialize over food and drink. We also schedule Meetups for on-stage performances when available.

Active participation is a requirement to retain membership: attend at least one event every other month or so and keep RSVPs up-to-date. Inactive individuals are encouraged to withdraw.

We depend on members' donations to meet expenses. The social periods are as important to this group as the operas we enjoy, and these include refreshments. We must also pay subscription costs to Meetup.com.

The  opera events are held on Sunday afternoons in North Raleigh.   In general we meet each every two or three weeks. DVD's are shown on  large screen Blu-ray entertainment systems. Refreshments  include soft drinks, wine, cheeses and fruit. Conversation at intermissions is lively!  Join us!

The Owner and Organizer of Triangle Opera Appreciation reserves the right to accept or reject requests for membership , cancel memberships, and edit posts by members at his discretion.

"I enjoyed the Opera a great deal - I never realized how demanding the singing is - esp. on Wotan ... but the whole of it is fascinating - the story line, etc. - really not a boring momtnet"

"Wow! Interestingly, this production really does work for me. (And often productions don't.) Movement of singers is actually rhythmic. Movement doesn't get in the way of the singing...."

"Wonderful singing, unusual staging but to each his own I guess. Looking forward to the next installment, hopefully the gods will fix Grace's sink for her!"

"As usual, Grace's selection featured beautiful music, both vocal and instrumental, and even some good acting. I found the staging distracting, but I think I was in the minority...."

"That was a very original production of the opera. The director really wanted to bring this opera to a younger audience, thus the use of all that costuming from the 70s-90s sci-fi films and the spectacular special effects...."

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
