Carolina Century 2013

102 * 82 * 72 * 64 * 51 * 31 * 21-mile routes
10 Hours of Support / SAG!

All proceeds for people with MS!

Excellent routes, designed by a veteran skater, for skaters!

Details:

This will be the last big event most of us do in 2013. The Carolina Century is a skater and cyclist friendly event put together by Blake of Roadskater.net fame. Because Blake is a skater, he's chosen a great route that is filled with good pavement and great rollouts after nearly all hills, requiring little or no braking over nearly 100% of the course. There are multiple distance options ranging from 21 to 102 miles, with plenty of choices in between. Ten hours of great support means that even cyclists who enjoy long rides but don't want to "hammer" it can ride up to 102 miles at a comfortable pace. Event registration is very inexpensive, and proceeds go to help fight MS.

Registration link is up as of Oct 2, 2013.

Note that we will use this Meetup event just to keep our fellow Triangle skaters informed, and perhaps to arrange to car pool. Please indicate your mode of travel (skates or a bike?) and your likely event distance. However...

YOU MUST GO TO THE EVENT WEB SITE TO REGISTER!

Hope to see you there!

Looks like the rain + cooler temps scared a lot of people away this year. Me, David K and Tom W (on bike) only did 21 mi but originally planned on 51. Hopefully next year the weather will cooperate and we can enjoy more of the great course Blake puts together every year. As always it was great as far as organization / volunteers. This year was free arm warmers and other goodies such as coupons for free ice cream at a couple of the rest stops (we didn't make it to them unfortunately). And as always the chili and food goodies at the end rocked!

Hey all - I was stoked for the 51 miler again. Crazy fun. My lower back has decided otherwise. What a mess. Overtraining in the weight room. Best of luck to everyone. Have fun!!! See you sometime at the neuse or ATT.

I may actually do the same thing! Last week I got bit by a dog while skating - it was my first time and kinda freaked me out. It all happened so fast though so I'll have to practice to be able to effectively deter any threat.
