Announcing a new Meetup for The Triangle Area Chinese Culture and Language Meetup Group!

What: Zhong Guo Jie Class #42 - Let's Gather for Chinese Dim Sum

When: December 12,[masked]:00 AM

Where:
Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant
3003 Guess Road
Durham, NC 27705
(919)[masked]

Please note: location is not at our regular Lodge clubhouse!

Dim sum is the name for a Chinese cuisine which involves a wide range of light dishes served alongside Chinese tea. Yum cha (literally "drinking tea") is the term used to describe the entire dining experience, especially in contemporary Cantonese. It is usually served in the mornings until noon time at Chinese restaurants and at specialty dim sum eateries where typical dishes are available throughout the day. Dishes come in small portions and may include meat, seafood, and vegetables, as well as desserts and fruit. The items are usually served in a small steamer basket or on a small plate. For this class, let's gather for Chinese dim sum at the best dim sum place I know in the area - Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant in Durham. It gets very crowded very quickly so let's meet promptly at 11am, which is when they open! They have a small parking lot that fills up pretty fast.

As we dine on delicious dim sum, we will review vocabulary and phrases surrounding dining out and eating, and learn some new words related to dim sum!

Cost per person will be dependent on how much you want to order of course :) But it usually runs between $10-15.
