WOW!   We've found a place DESIGNED for dogs & camping!

Dogs Scouts of America-Michigan camp is allowing non-members to use their excellent facilities!   SO WE'RE GOING!

It's about a 3 hour drive: to 80 acres of woods with hiking trails, splash lake (a large pond), with docks, kayaks, paddle boat, doggie life vests, etc for your use, an Agility field, a large, natural fenced area for dogs to play, and a smaller fenced area for tiny dogs to play together.

There is  lodging in the main building (the Lodge). Showers/toilet facilities are in the Lodge. If people want to share a group room the rate is only $15.00 per night. Private rooms are $40.00 per night. We have camp sites for folks with tents or RV's. Site with no electric are $8.00 per nite; site with electric is $12.00 per night. People can even rent one of our RV's if they want ($45/night.) And mini cabins for $75/night (with A/C, but no bathroom)  DSA is now open to the public, so you don't have to be a DSA member to use the facility.  The site IS wheelchair accessible.

The lodge has a large meeting room, where you can have games or indoor activities, and other out-buildings, should you need them. We have a full-service kitchen, restrooms with showers, etc. We have an on-site store (Sparky's Boutique and Outfitters). You can bring your own food, or join a TADP meal plan (to be announced later)

If you would like to see photos of the facility, please visit

OK, so we can have campers and non-campers!  And unlimited fun!  And hikes and splashing and relaxation!   YOUR DOGS MUST BE UP TO DATE ON ALL VACCINATIONS AND ON FLEA/TICK HEARTWORM PREVENTATIVES.  AND YOU MUST HAVE WRITTEN PROOF/RECEIPTS.

There is a LOT of information that the Camp wants you to have so that your expectations are met.  Camping with dogs in Northern Michgan involves sand, bugs, heat, cold, rain, you name it...   Please take a moment to look thru the material linked on the website for camp:

I'll answer questions, but if you ask questions that are already in the materials, be prepared for my answer :)

Because we have to pay a fee for exclusive use of the camp, the fee will be $10.00 per person per night at camp. If you're coming for the whole long weekend, that equals 4 nights =$40 pp.

To reserve the room/site you want, call Lonnie at [masked] or email to Lonnie Olson [masked]

Did anyone stay in a cabin last time? I would like to know what they are like.

    July 11, 2013

    • KarenL

it's one room about 10x10, with bed (you need to bring sheets/blanket or sleeping bag/pillow) has a microwave, dresser.. that's about it. Compact and yet spacious enough for you & dog :) Check with Joanne, she stayed in one last time.

Hi you happen to know the price of the cabin or trailer. Thanks, Linda

I added it in above for you after calling Lonnie-- mini-cabin is $75/night, but there are no internal bathrooms. 2 of the RV trailers ($45/night) have AC & bathroom, but not drinking water.
