Food storage 101 - canning/drying/preserving SkillShare

Details
As we all know , our culture is dependent on trucks, trains and ships to deliver food to the supermarkets. Should anything disrupt the supply chain for more than a few days, this society will be F.U.B.A.R. But not us! We have the foresight to provide for our families' well being in spite of adversity. Rising food costs will not likely stop, so this is a timely meetup to be sure. Trebs ( pronounced Treebs) , farmer/homesteader extraordinaire will be on hand to interject her humor and knowhow into our meetup!
In this fun and exciting get together we will learn a lot about:
The mindset required to achieve a smooth running operation
Nutritional needs
Water bath preservation
Pressure canning options
Shelf lives of various foods
Bulk dry grains and and their prep
Buying canned foods and rotation of stock
Understanding your container options
Drying, jerking and smoking meats and veggies
Salt and sugar packing
Considerations for hiding food
Exploring the risk vs reward of charity
Often over looked items to have in your backup supply
This meetup will go a long way toward guiding our actions now in this time of plenty so that we are on sure footing come our time of need. The presenters are individuals that are actively prepping and have been for quite some time, so they have made mistakes and learned from them. The benefit of experience certainly will come into play here.
Your friends and family are encouraged to come along with you.
You are welcome to submit particular questions ahead of time . If you feel that you have something to add to the presentation , please contact Fernando ASAP via email.
This meetup is hosted by Survive and Thrive - Philadelphia, and we are posting it here for the TFP community as a free service for you to take advantage of. Please consider joining Survive and Thrive - Philadelphia as well and rsvp from that site. Here is the link:
