TEAM, there has been several of us there for the 7:15/7:30 group. Meet at beach access 9 sign. I will not make it this Sat(Oct 12) but have advised the earlier group and others members to lookout for any new participants.

Oh, by the way: I will be attending this weekend, as I've decided not to do the race this weekend, but to do another race later this year.

I really want to challenge myself and train for this type of event. Are most beginners already in shape?

That would depend on what you mean by "in shape". We have various shapes, sizes, & fitness levels in this group. We've got one lady who just learned to swim a few months ago and goes slower on that, while I've consistently brought up the rear on my mountain bike and skinny legs up until now, but then, I run faster than the rest. So we all have different strengths and things we need to improve. We welcome all, but it's probably a good idea to start out doing one thing at a time (swimming, biking, or running) before you start combining. But find a race in December, set a goal for that, and start training now. You can do it. :)

The important thing is to get out there and "tri" it. If you find that you're slower than the others in the group then you can always just do half the distances to start with. You don't have to be in great shape to participate in a training. You participate in a training to get in shape.

My wonderful mother got me this Gavin CORSA Triathlon Bike for an early Birthday/Christmas present:

1st time riding it this morning, it shaved my time from 4.1 mins/mile to 3.33 mins/mile. Not going to win any races with that pace, but it's a step in the right direction, and my time will continue to improve as I continue building my leg muscles. :)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
