Python and OpenStack (open source cloud computing)

Details
Let's talk about OpenStack:
OpenStack is like an open-source version of Amazon Web Services/Azure/Google Cloud Platform. You can use it to it manage your own cloud computing infrastructure on your own hardware.
OpenStack was born as a joint project between Rackspace and NASA. Many organizations around the world use it. Examples include:
• Wikimedia Labs (running Wikipedia)
• AT&T
• CERN
• eBay
• Comcast
• NASA
• PayPal
• Rackspace
• Sony
• Walmart
• Intel
• Yahoo!
• HP
• DreamHost
• NSA (hah!)
Julian attended the OpenStack conference so I got him to do a talk about his experience there and the great technologies available. Almost everything available in OpenStack is built with Python.
Julian will give us an overview of the OpenStack project and cover some of the biggest sub-projects. Julian will also demo some basic functionality and compare it with some AWS products. If there is time he will also talk about his favorite project - Gnocchi, which is a Python based time-series database.
If we have time, we can do lightning talks, too. If you have one you would like to do, please send us a message.
Cheers and see you then,
Marnee
