Working as a Translator in Your Source Language Country

I am on vacation in July, so I have scheduled this meetup for early August.

Member Cindy Coan will make a presentation about translators who have decided to live and work abroad. She has asked expat translators the following survey questions:

1.  Reason for move?

2.  Housing and living arrangements?

3.  Citizenship and residency status?

4.  Social and other connections?

5.  What impact has move had on:a.  Language skills b.  Business since relocation

6.  Greatest challenges associated with move and steps taken to overcome them?

We will be interested to hear the results of the survey. Others with significant experience working abroad are encouraged to attend and paticipate.

Of course, I'm bound to be biased, but it's such a neat subject. ;-)

Yes, when we have met there in the past we tend to break up as they are closing. Though, they are not that aggressive about chasing out their guests.

I was just reading Ghini's menu (as I've never been to Ghini's before) and I noticed they close at 2pm. Let's make the most of the 1,5 hours we'll have at our disposal. See you there!

I'm looking forward to seeing you, Aaron. BTW, I like your colorful design.

I don't know if I can be there on Sunday but would love to attend any further meetings.

Very interesting that you're slated to be abroad yourself on the very day we take up the topic of translators abroad. Too bad you can't be in two places at once! However, I too hope we can see you again in the fall.

In fact, I will be working in Guatemala on that date, and I will reflect on these questions. Thanks Kenny for continuing to organize this. I do hope the stars will align for me to meet-up with you-all in the fall.
