Free DIY Series: Build an iOS App in 3 Hours

Get your feet wet in native iOS app development. This is a beginner workshop. We'll all build a simple app. And as you go through the process of developing the app, you'll get introduced to the following:

Underlying concepts for developing iOS apps

Some elementary Objective-C concepts

Tools for development - XCode and the simulator

Using the visual editor ( Interfacebuilder) for designing your app

Connecting your visual design to code

Adding some media to your app - like photographs

Running the app in the simulator

please bring a macbook along with XCode installed on it so you can take your app home with you. XCode is a free download from the Mac app store.

So if you've never done development and are just curious about what iOS developers actually do - you'll gain some first-hand knowledge of iOS development. And even if you are a developer but with no iOS experience - you'll leave with a decent understanding of iOS development. At the end of the three hour session, everyone should have their own copy of a simple working app!
