Twespians Fringe: "'Social Media and Theatre" talk

"Social Media and Theatre: It's an amplifier, you'll still need the speakers"

Social media is a world-wide hype. Theatre producers, marketers and venues are trying all sorts of different things on Twitter, Facebook and alike. But, what really works? What do the statistics really tell us, and how is this new channel different than the traditional marketing outlets? In short, what is the true value of social media marketing for the London theatre business? During his internship at Kevin Wallace Ltd., Sven Ruggenberg, a Dutch student, roamed the internet for clues. His thesis on the subject is the topic of this lecture, in which he goes into the pros and cons, some recent case-studies, and some of the online trends that are emerging among us.

Sven will be delivering a short lecture on the value of social media marketing for theatre. Afterwards he'll have a short Q&A.

We've been talking to Sven for the past year, and we're quite excited to see what he's found, and think it's the perfect precursor to what is going to be a great 2012 for Twespians. After we've finished in SOLT's lovely offices, we'll decant to the Lamb & Flag next door for some traditional Twespians post-talk drinks and chat.

A big thank you to SOLT for helping us organise and hosting the event!
