Twilio Tech Talks: The Art of Documentation

Join us this month with featured speakers from Mashery and Twilio, looking at the art of writing documentation.

Rob  Zazueta, Director of Platform Strategy at Mashery has more than 15 years of Web development experience, three years as an independent business owner and more than three years in business development and technical sales support. Prior to Mashery, he managed the API program for a popular email marketing and social media company serving small businesses. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of California at Berkeley.

When he’s not helping Mashery's customers blow the doors off their API strategies, Rob can be found brewing beer, roasting coffee and resisting the urge to use his toddler son as a taste tester.

Elaine Tsai and Nisha George from the Twilio Support team break down creating helpful, logical documentation with your customer in mind with Translating Customer Interactions to Documentation

A primary goal for your documentation should be making answers easy to find. Having questions be phrased as the customers ask them is just one way to do this. Creating those buckets for common questions and tasks with your application can help guide a user from one piece to the next.

We’ll be hosting the meetup at our brand new HQ on the third floor of 645 Harrison. The meetup will kick off at 6:00 with talks starting 6:30pm sharp. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

We’ll see you there!

I was pretty impressed by the overall information i got at this particular meetup. I knew documentation was important, but Rob and crew really made great points on why good documentation is key!

Really good stuff. Rob laid out a set of principles for collaborative documentation, and Nisha and Elaine showed how they are doing it in practice at Twilio.
