September Meetup:

Join us this Wednesday September 26th from 7-9PM at Intermedia Arts for the September TC Drupal meetup. Per the suggestions from last month's meeting, we'll be climbing the Drupal Ladder together to learn how to apply and test patches. Don't know what that means? No worries, let me explain.

In an effort to help people teach and learn how to contribute to Drupal core, a group calling itself the "Boston Initiative" outlined a list of linear steps (the Drupal Ladder) -- skills a person needs to learn to contribute. They also set up a site,, to collect curriculum people can use to climb the Ladder.

We are going begin following the Ladder lessons as a group at this Wednesday's TCDrupal meeting. The goal is to focus most of our time on step 4 -- Test patches -- as many have requested help on this topic. Joe Shindelar (eojthebrave) has generously volunteered to be present to help out with this.

To be prepared to do the Test patches lesson, we'll quickly cover the first 3 lessons -- Install Drupal locally / Install Git / Get Started in issue queue. To keep things simple, we'll demonstrate how to set up a local environment using Acquia Dev Desktop.

If you'd like to be ahead of the game, go through the initial Drupal Ladder lessons before Wednesday evening. Lessons 1 and 2 should be fairly quick to complete and will get you to where you need to be. We'll review these lessons at the meetup and extra help will be on hand for anyone needing it. Remember to bring your laptop if you wish to participate in the lessons!

If you are already know a thing or two about all of this, join us to help out those who'd like to learn. If you are a bit mystified but curious, you are especially welcome to join us as well. We'll be happy to cut through the technical jargon to explain what this all means no matter what level of interest you have.

As always, feel free to bring your favorite beverage to share. We'll provide pizza.

When: Wednesday September 26th 7-9PM. Where: Advantage Labs @ Intermedia Arts 2822 Lyndale Ave S Minneapolis, MN 55408
