John- are you going to the DDD meetup? Just checking.

Also Shammel- I'm with you-would be cool if they could hold it at pivotal which I think can hold more than 140 characters. :)

Also John - was just kidding / was kind of you to give up your seat. Of course would be cool if about...31 more people felt similarly. :)

The only way to get on the RSVP list is to hack the meetup.com api and auto-rsvp. But this would soon evolve into a high-frequency game, where the winners code would have the lowest latency by ensuring that their individual servers were co-located with the meetup.com server. Then the quants would arrive, and use stochastic calculus to build prediction models and forecast potential twitter meetups. Then Goldman would step-in and bet against their own quants, thereby making money on both sides of the spread... of course, all this could be avoid if twitter simply choose a larger venue...

The one group I have never been able to attend a meetup for. Even 10 min after receiving the email.

Things I have better odds at, instead of being able to get into a twitter meetup 15 minutes after they announce it: 1) zuckerberg calling my cell asking me to be his new CTO

    2) Wwdc tickets

    3) front row at world cup

    4) ozzy calling to ask me to be his Randy rhoads for third revamp of his career

    5) Emma stone calling to remind me about our date

    6) helping Harper Reed load Microsoft Access on his windows pc

    7) assist bus Dev team in proving out immediate ROI on new machine learning initiative "so we can say we do Big Data"

whatever/you get the gist. The short version: we need a bigger space for these meetups. :)

Actually meetup must have some mechanism (at least for host) to filter out people who only rsvp but did not go to any meetup

I suspect there's a significant delay between Meetup's back-end deciding to send invitations and the e-mail system sending off the message.
