The Monster And A 10 Year Old Child:
A Lesson For All Of Us

Health And Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius

Should this person be in charge of your health care?

Thanks to a federal judge, the Kathleen "the Grim Reaper" Sebelius missed Sarah Murnaghan.
Sarah, a 10 year old child on a respirator with end stage cystic fibrosis, had only three to five weeks to live. Only a lung transplant could save her life. But, Sebelius refused to override an out of date federal rule that children under 12 could only receive children's lungs.  This rule blocked Sarah from receiving the life saving lung transplant she desperately needed.

On June 4th in a hearing before the House of Representatives, Sebelius refused to override the rule, even though she had the authority to do so and doctors testified that the rule was out of date because with advances in medicine, lungs from adults could now be transplanted into children with a high rate of success. At the hearing, Sebelius stated: "Some people live and some people die" and went on to say that she would order a review of the policy, even though it was pointed out that a review would take a year and Sarah had only weeks to live. It should be noted that Sebelius is overseeing the implementation and direction of ObamaCare.
Sarah's parents, with few options left, asked for an immergency hearing before Federal Court. After the court hearing on June 5th, Federal Judge Michael Baylson ordered Sebelius to lift the rule for Sarah, which saved her life.

Yesterday, Sarah received her new lungs and is in recovery. Thank G-d.
Doctors say that if everything goes well, within weeks she will be running through the hospital corridors and will finally have a normal childhood.
