Chapter 3: Wind Farms & Birds

In 2008, Barack Obama told America that his "investment" in green energy would create 5 million jobs by the end of his second term. Well, five years and tens of billions of dollars later less than 3,000 green jobs have been created through Obama's "investments" at a cost of over $11 million a job.

An essential part of of Obama's green energy "investment" was in wind turbines built by General Electric (GE). You remember the chairman of GE Jeffrey Immelt, Obama's job Czar who laughed with Obama, after $800 billion was wasted on Obama's stimulus bill, that there was no such thing as a "shovel-ready job."

In the Obama's stimulus bill there was an expansion of the Wind-Production Tax Credit (PTC). The PTC has already cost taxpayers $15 billion and will cost American taxpayers an estimated additional $12 billion, up to $50 billion if wind energy advocates get their way, over the next ten years. The tax credit subsidizes green power companies to purchase wind turbines from GE. Oh boy!

Thus far GE has received $3 billion of orders for wind turbines because of the subsidy. And guess who GE bundled over $500,000 for? You guessed it: Barack Obama.

Guess who else benefits from the PTC? John Doerr, another former Obama jobs council member, and Al Gore and their venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins which received at least $10 billion of stimulus funds. And guess who John Doerr and Kleiner Perkins made big political contributions to? In 2008: The Barack Obama Victory Fund, Friends of Hillary, Friend of Dick Durbin and the Democratic Senatorial Committee. In 2012: Obama for America and
the Democratic Senatorial Committee.

Now comes the hypocrisy. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service estimates that wind turbines kill 440,000 bald and golden eagles, hawks, falcons, owls, cranes, egrets, geese, and other birds every year in the U.S. Yes, 440,000 every year. Further, the actual numbers are probably far higher. Over the past 25 years, turbines at Altamont Pass, CA alone, have killed an estimated 2,300 golden eagles leading to an 80% drop in the golden eagle population of southern California.

And guess what? Golden eagles and bald eagles are not only protected by the Endangered Species Act (ESA) just like the Delta smelt, but also by the 1940 Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act. And, unlike the Delta smelt, killing a bald eagle or a golden eagle is a felony, fines start at $5,000 for one killing, and increase to $10,000 for killing two. For multiple violations the fine increases to $250,000 with two years in prison. The fine doubles for an organization, i.e. one of these green energy boondoggle companies and Obama's cronies that run them.

So, is the DOJ going to protect bald eagles and golden eagles, like they protect the Delta smelt? What has Eric Holder and the DOJ done about it? The answers are no and nothing! The DOJ has never prosecuted a wind farm or any one that runs one for killing eagles or other birds. Now, besides getting big dollars from the government, these people and their parasite green companies receive protection from the DOJ. It reminds me of the movie The Godfather where Don Vito Corleone talks about his many politicians and judges in his pocket.

How about the Department of the Interior, is this agency doing anything to enforce the 1940 Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act? Of course not. It's just another example of Obama and Holder deciding which laws they want to enforce.

And to tidy everything up, in December the Obama administration has decided to give wind farms 30 year permits for the “non purposeful take of eagles-that is where the take is associated with but not the purpose of, the activity" in other words, Obama is giving his cronies 30 years to kill as many eagles as they want. Yes, Obama has a pen for these leaches.

So, is it about birds, or is it about politics and money?

So, what is it all about?

Let's see. The Keystone XL pipeline is cleaner than any other mode of transporting oil and doesn't increase CO2 emissions, but Obama opposes it because it will cost him political power and his buddy Buffett money.

The San Joachin Valley, the Food Basket of the World, is turning into a dust bowl because of the Delta smelt. And even though legislation was proposed that would fund a fish hatchery to replace fish killed by the pumps, the Democrats and Obama opposed it. Why? Because it will cost him political power and he and his environmental buddies, like the NRDC, money.

Then there's the wind farms that need subsidies to survive and kill thousands of bald eagles and golden eagles as well as hundreds of thousands of other birds. Not only doesn't Obama care about these creatures, but also, he has taken action with his pen to allow his parasite green energy cronies to kill as many of these birds as they want. Why? Because in this case by protecting the birds it will cost him political power, his big green industry cronies money and save them prosecution and prison, where Obama and all these parasites belong.
