YouTube and the Role of a Data Scientist

Details

Speaker: Sundar Dorai-Raj

YouTube is the world's most popular online video community. Founded in February 2005 and purchased by Google in November 2006, YouTube now serves over 800 million unique users each month. This translates into petabytes of unstructured data and inherently messy problems, for which there are no simple answers. In this talk, we will demonstrate how data scientists at YouTube provide meaningful insights and help drive innovation to a rapidly changing platform that is growing by the day.

Sundar Dorai-Raj is a senior quantitative analyst at Google where he focuses on improving YouTube ad formats. His areas of interest include linear models, data visualization, and statistical computing. He has a PhD in statistics from Virginia Tech.
