Monthly Meeting | Creating Design Culture

  • September 4, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

At the September meet up we will be focusing on how to design and cultivate a great company culture.  A process that goes far deeper than the creation of a company “fun committee” or the occasional happy-hour and instead focuses on mindfully crafting the small details that create a big culture.

For this event we’ll be joining Chuck Longanecker and the digital-telepathy team at their new downtown offices for a laid back culture centered evening.  Together, using the story of digital-telepathy as an example, Chuck will walk us through what it takes to empower a design culture.

Will a link to that video they were recording be provided?

We'll be editing and putting it together and once it's live, we'll be sure to share it here :) And on that note, I hope Anne doesn't mind but here's a link to some AWESOME sketches made with notes from the talk: http://annemccoll.com...

Jessica, thanks for the link! Also, I was going to ask about the recording as well so good to hear!! Looking forward to it!

Nicely done, dt! And the talk was spot-on.

My wife's company has lived by the same credo -- "focus on what makes it worth coming to work every day" -- for 20+ years, and it has served them well. It's what has let them "scale" in the way Chuck was asking about, doing larger, more meaningful and amazing work with a core group of 20 people that have been with the company from the beginning.

And nicely done with the "speakeasy" part of UX Speakeasy!

I received the email notice that a spot has opened but only some mins away from closing which was not feasible and very unrealistic to attend.

    September 4, 2013

  • Seth S

Glad I made it off the waiting list, but with only an hour notice beforehand, I'm unfortunately not going to make it.

Was hoping I would feel better in time to head out tonight ... don't want to get others sick!

    September 4, 2013

Hello....glad to see I just made the cut to attend but I'm afraid 2-hr. notice won't work tonight. I sure wish I could change my schedule but I'll have to hear about tonight from the group.
Have a great meeting everyone and I hope to see you at the next event!

Just a reminder–the Padres are playing a 3:40pm game today, so be sure to add transit time for parking (or take the Trolley).

Looking like I'm gonna be stuck here. Have fun!

Is there a closing time on the RSVP list? I'm still waitlisted, but don't want to find out at 6:57pm that a spot opened up and then get blacklisted..

  • Elina O.

    Any recommendations for parking?

Was called in to take care of my grandmother today. Will not be able to make it. Sorry I'm going to miss tonight's meetup. :(

I may be a few minutes late, but I plan on attending. I'm looking forward to this meetup and catching up with my former colleagues at DT! See ya!

Is there still hope for wait-listers? ;^)

    1 · September 3, 2013

still might be hope - we always have a large turnover in the last couple of days before the meetup

      September 3, 2013

Hoping there might be room! :^)

The wait list means dreaded Ohme Blacklist is in effect: If you are a No Show you will automatically be wait listed for future events. Please be considerate to other members and keep your RSVP up to date if you are no longer able to attend.

If you are on the wait list, the capacity is limited but there is still hope. We usually have quite a few cancellations in week leading up to the event.
