What we’re about

(NOTE: THIS MEETUP PAGE UNDER CONSTRUCTION. WE CURRENTLY HAVE OVER 30 MEMBERS IN UKESTRA AS OF September 2023.)

Created in October 2011 by professional educator and musician Mike Loce.

www.ukestra.org

As New Hampshire's original collaborative adult ukulele orchestra, the idea of this group is to create and foster a comfortable environment for exploring the sound this excellent instrument can provide. The Uke is experiencing a huge resurgence in popularity; always a favorite, a low cost in a difficult economy is an additional incentive for music lovers. UKESTRA with Mike Loce™ is open to all ages.

Group members work to improve their playing via practice at club meetings and by preparing for performance opportunities. Along with ukulele, laughter is a common bond within the group.

There is no audition for Ukestra, but members are asked to have some playing and singing ability. Mike Loce is available for private lessons at his residence in Merrimack/Nashua to get up to speed before joining Ukestra.

The Ukestra is a members organization, with annual dues going toward maintenance of the website, arrangements, venues reservations, supplies and more. That being said, it's $100/year per individual and $175/year for two family members. Payment can be cash/check to "Mike Loce Music" or PayPal (with extra $5 fee on that).

This assumes an average two activities (or more) per month, either in-person or Zoom. We will still have the in-person cash/hat option and request $10 for a drop-in one time member meet.

Paid members will receive expansive access to what the group offers , including a private email account for all Ukestra members featuring content and information not posted on this site. Also, performance opportunities and group events (potlucks, parties etc).

Interested people may visit an open rehearsal before joining to get a feel of how the group functions. A prior email to Mike is required. We currently practice at Nashua Public Library Theater for 2023-24.
