A couple of years ago. I've never played an instrument before but I figured the uke would be a good place to start. Plus it has fewer strings than a guitar, so it should be simpler...riiiiight?
Too many to name but Jake Shimabukuro and Willie K and Daniel Ho come to mind. Plus the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain does some fun stuff, as does a group called Yoyoyo Acapulco.
I thought I had moved on to "intermediate" status but because I am not good about practicing, I think I've reverted to sort of a semi-advanced beginner. I'd like to learn better picking techniques but my fingers always get in the way.
Just one, well one real one -- a Kala -- and two toy ones friends have given me.
Almost anything with some exceptions, but let's not dwell on the negative.
