Family: Walk to Awosting Falls & Swim at Lake Minnewaska with Optional Picnic

Pace: Relaxed/Easy, we decide the pace while enjoying the views
Terrain: Scenic Carriage Trails
Distance 1-2 miles
Duration: 2-5 hours (You decide)
Welcome: All Do you want to get out and enjoy the nice weather with your child(ren), niece(s), nephew(s), grandchild(ren) or maybe your friend's child(ren)? Do you want to get your kids away from the video games and moving? Do you want to get moving with or without a child on an easy walk? Then this is the day for you. We will begin the afternoon with a small 1-2 mile walk to Awosting Falls. By then the kids would have made friends (and the parents too!) so we can enjoy a swim at Lake Minnewaska. Afterward feel free to join us at the top of Lake Minnewaska by the benches for a picnic. What to bring:
-$7 car parking fee or Empire Passport
-Water, water and more water, comfortable shoes and clothing, swim suit, if swimming, towel, bug stray, if needed, sunscreen, if needed, bandaids/first aid, anything else you may need for your family Optional:
-Hat, water shoes, lunch for picnic, picnic blanket Note:
You are responsible for the child(ren) you bring to the event. Cancellation notice:
I will be monitoring the weather prior to the event and if conditions do not look good, the event is subject to cancellation. Please make sure to check your email/site prior to leaving your house the cancellation notices will be sent by 8 am, if required. Dogs:
No dogs allowed at this particular event please. The children will be of all ages. We do not want them to be afraid of the dogs. Directions:
87N to Exit 18 New Paltz, NY via the NYS Thruway. Left onto Route 299 West. Right at 44/55. Make a left into Lake Minnewaska parking lot. Drive up the hill to the top parking lot to meet.

    Thank you all for helping to make the event a mission accomplished. It was wonderful to see the kids exploring nature and playing on rocks, dirt and water. I would love to do it again. Thanks for coming out.

    Yes, we can swim at Lake Minn and Lake Awosting. I am not sure if Awosting is open to the public right now but Minnewaska is. See you there...
