I updated the attached posting with the specific location and sleep option... I hope you are able to attend...

Announcing a new Meetup for Ulster County Outdoors!

What: Camping: 1 Night Camping Trip at Catskills Park with Optional Hike in am

When: Saturday, July 17,[masked]:30 PM

Where: (A location has not been chosen yet.)

Catskills Park is breathtakingly beautiful in itself. There are streams we can enjoy after setting up our tents. It is on flat ground. Let's spend an evening watching the stars, eating s'mores, listening to the stream and all the wonderful sounds of nature and each other's company. The night air feels so crisp and relaxing. All the laughs and wonderful friendship memories we will create makes it even more worth it. In the morning we will visit Buttermilk Falls on Peekamoose Road before heading to Slide Mountain for the hike.

I am bringing all my food in a cooler. I am not cooking except for s'mores, of course. We will stop by a local store in the am to pick up ice/food for the hike, as needed.

The Slide Mountain hike for 6/18/2010 will be posted separately:

What to bring:

Tent, sleeping bag/s, extra clothing, dinner/breaksfast, water, water and more water
bear bag(s), air mattress, pillows, as needed, flashlight, bug stray, cooking pots, as needed
lantern (I have one), childlike behavior...

Sleeping Option:
If you would like to hang out with everyone the night of the campout, but not sleep in the tents, this is a welcomed option. Feel free to research/stay at a nearby hotel/motel. In the am you may still join us for a hike, of course. If you choose this option, please indicate in your comments section. This will allow me to know if a permit is needed or not.

We will park on Route 42, Peekamoose Road, at the primitive campsite where we will camp. Meet time on Peekamouse Road is 7pm. At 6:30pm I will be at the Park & Ride off 87 at 6:30pm for anyone who wants to meet there. Directions to Route 42 and the Park & Ride will be emailed to attendees a few days before the 17th.

With 9 members no permit is needed. If we go over 9 members, I will work on getting a permit.

Cancellation notice:
I will be monitoring the weather prior to the event and if conditions do not look good, the event is subject to cancellation. Please make sure to check your email/site prior to leaving your house. The cancellation notice will be sent prior to 10 am if required.
