Through our Shelter Support Program, we meet a lot of dogs who are all special in their own way. Once in a while, though, we meet a dog whose plight particularly touches us -- a dog we can't stop thinking about even after getting home and washing away the sweat and dirt from a day at the shelter.
Trixie (A[masked]) at the Downey shelter is such a dog. She is a staff and volunteer favorite, but is very overweight. Weighing forty-three pounds now, she should probably weigh less than half of that. Below is some information about Trixie. We are guessing that she is a probably a Pomeranian-Terrier mix, and we are looking for an adopter or a patient long-term foster who can help Trixie get the exercise and diet she needs to return to a healthy weight. Please help us help her by sharing her story.
A[masked] Trixie is a simply adorable five year old brown female Terrier mix who was found in East Los Angeles on June 25th and brought to the Downey Animal Care Center. Weighing forty-three pounds, she walks (waddles) well on leash, but hasn’t had any formal training. She gets along well with other dogs and adores children. Putting a big smile on every volunteer and staff member’s face is her specialty, and this dog will have YOU at hello! Trixie will make a wonderful walking companion and the perfect indoor pet for anyone in any living situation. To watch a video of Trixie please click here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vmn9GoFvtNM
