Introduction to Linux, session 1

Details

The CU campus is closed today (September 12, 2013). We are going to reschedule. Details will be posted soon.

Room 215 of TCOM

You'll laugh! You'll cry! You'll grep!

Come and learn why Linux is the operating system of choice for everything from running the Internet to high-performance computing to embedded systems. Newcomers to Linux will pick up enough introductory skills to get off and running with the CLI, and even seasoned hackers may learn a new trick or two.

If you would like to follow along with the examples, please bring a laptop that a) runs Linux or Mac OSX, or b) allows you to log in to a Linux server using ssh.

This is the first of three Linux tutorials we plan on having this September.

Peter Ruprecht from CU's Research Computing will be giving this tutorial. Whenever I have a Linux question, I ask Pete, and he never ceases to amaze me with his creative, concise one-liners! I'm looking forward to his class.

Hope you can make it!
