Come to Building a Community Oven: A Two-Day Earthen Oven Workshop!

A two-day Cobb Oven Workshop

August 4th and 5th

Come learn the ancient craft of building an earthen oven out of raw, local materials. To build a community, to build an oven, ya gotta dance! Together we will stomp and dance upon the earthen materials creating a fine mix; using stone, clay, and straw to build a fully functional and beautiful outdoor oven. Participants will become familiar with each step of oven building, from the stone base, to the brick hearth; the clay dome with straw insulation, to the finishing earthen plaster. We will also tell stories about earthen ovens which have served as the center of culture for peoples throughout history. We hope you'll join us for this fun, inspiring, and downright dirty experience!
